Why Enviromarketing Loves Trees
Trees are good friends
Did you know that on a yearly basis, the average fully grown tree on Earth usually absorbs 22 kilograms of CO2 every single year? Not only that, but did you know the average tree also produces more than 120 kilograms of Oxygen every year? Those numbers may not sound like much, especially when you consider just how big they are, but there are more than 3 trillion trees on Earth, and they have a tremendous impact on the environment and our health.
Biomass
Biomass is a term used in science to describe the total mass of organisms in a given area or volume. On Earth, all of the animal biomass is only 0.4%! All of the animals on land and in the waters don’t even make up 1/200th of all of the biomass on the whole planet. Protists make up about 0.7%, single-cell microbes make up 1.7%, fungi make up 2.2%, bacteria make up an impressive 12.8%, and trees/plants make up 82.4% of all the biomass on the whole planet! When it comes to nick-names, the Earth isn’t the blue planet, it’s the tree planet.
Not only do we love trees at Enviromarketing, but we also love science. This video, created by Canadian scientist and online YouTube creator Derek Muller, breaks down how trees seem to bend the laws of physics in order to get water to any and all branches that are taller than 10 metres. It’s pretty amazing what the planet’s largest branch of life is capable of!
